A Letter from Danielle for October ’24
Hi Everyone,
I LOVE October. I used to love September, but it gets pretty hectic even without young children in school. But October is such a great month, the weather is usually still warm, with a little cool nip in the air. Everyone has settled into their autumn/winter routines. I have always liked fall clothes better than summer ones, especially now with the blistering heat waves, which have gotten more severe in recent years. And the California wildfires at the end of summer are terrifying and seem to happen every year now. But October is fall at its best, before we get buried in snow and numbed by freezing weather. October is the sweet spot between summer and winter.
There are usually some great cultural events in the fall. I like settling down to work as the summer cools. And I enjoy doing things with my children in the summer, when they can spare the time.
One of the most fun things in October when my children were little was Halloween!! They planned their costumes for months, and came up with some great ones. We put together a haunted house, and the night of Halloween was really fun—with a van full of kids, driving around our neighbourhood trick or treating. And even once they left for college, they had fun plans on Halloween!!
I have two books coming out in October. My new hardcover, Triangle, is coming out, about a woman being pursued by someone harassing her, and she has no idea who it is. Could it be her college sweetheart who turns up after 20 years, or the promising new man she just met? Or neither one and a total stranger she has never known who is trying to terrify her? You’ll have to read the book to find out who is after her!!
And Never Too Late is coming out in paperback, about a woman who is widowed and moves to New York for the next chapters of her life, as a single woman after many years. Her grown daughters live there, so the move makes sense and is exciting when she moves from San Francisco to New York. She gets a great penthouse apartment, after selling her late husband’s business, and a famous movie star is her neighbor, leading a quiet discreet life.
Shortly after she arrives, there is a terrorist attack on New York, and she and her famous neighbor meet and join forces (she was a nurse long ago, before she married), and they set out to help the victims of the attack, and from that night, their friendship grows.
I hope you enjoy the books, and that you have a great October, full of fun plans and new adventures. It’s high writing season for me, so I’ll be working on new books for you!!! Happy Halloween!!!
Love,
Danielle
