A Letter from Danielle for March ’25

Hi Everyone,

We’re headed toward spring although it may not feel that way yet, but the calendar says we are. I cant wait for a breath of Spring and warmer weather. And I’m still busy working on new books.

The month is off to a great start, with the publication of one of my favorite new books, Far From Home, in hardcover. It takes us back to World War II, and a real life attempt on Hitler’s life, carried out by some of his most Senior military officers. The intention was to kill him and stop the war and end Hitler’s rule over most of Europe. In real life and the book, the brave attempt failed. And in the book, one of the men who tried to carry out the attempt is shot as a traitor. As part of his plan, his wife is waiting for him in Paris, at a wonderful hotel, thinking she will have a romantic holiday with her husband when he meets her there. Instead she learns from members of the Resistance about the attempt and that he is dead. She must disappear immediately into a new identify, in order not to be killed herself. They spirit her away from Paris, and she cannot contact anyone in Germany, not even her adult children, to avoid being caught, or French cousins near Paris. She is taken to a small town and left there, and must live a manufactured life in order to stay alive until the end of the war. And once liberated when the war ends, she must find her family again, and create a new life.

The book is about her time in hiding, how it happened, and how it turns out after the war. It’s about survival, courage, and starting a new life when the old one vanishes in front of your eyes, and leaves you alone Far From Home. I hope you love the book, with fact woven in with fiction to bring the story to life!! Have a great time with it!! I did while writing it!!

Love,
Danielle
