A Letter from Danielle for July ’22
Hi Everyone,
Summer is here at last!!! The July Fourth holiday kicked it off with a big start, with picnics, barbecues, parades, hot dogs, hamburgers, fried chicken, apple pie, and all the foods we associate with the Fourth. And fireworks shows!!! Hopefully, you’re planning a summer vacation, some rest from work, and some relaxing time somewhere that you enjoy. I’m planning a week’s vacation with some of my children this summer, and the rest of the time, I’ll be writing. I always love the time with my children.
Book-wise, I have two fun, unusual books for you this month. My new hardcover Suspects came out at the end of June: it’s a spy mystery with some strong human elements woven into it, which should keep you entertained and guessing til the end.
And in July my new paperback The Butler, about an intriguing, unusual man who was born in Argentina along with his identical/mirror twin. He moves to France in his late teens and attends university there, which never interested him much. His twin remained in Buenos Aires and they dont see each other for many years. The main character in the book trains in England as a formal butler and works in some of the finest houses in England, and eventually goes back to France when his employer dies and he is between jobs. He takes a temporary job with a young American woman who just lost her business and is trying to start a new life and figure out the next steps in hers. The butler comes to work to help her, and to work closely together on her new projects and setting up her new apartment in Paris. The butler’s previous history is revealed as the book progresses, with a war criminal grandfather, the discovery of who his father was, and what his identical twin has become in the years since they have seen each other. Past, present, and future collide as surprising events occur. He is a fascinating character, and I hope you will love the book as the story unfolds, bringing people together from different lives and different worlds.
I hope both of these books will get your summer off to a great start!!! With more books to follow later in the summer!!!
Love,
Danielle
